Firefox Download Mac Os 10.7 5

On August 2, 2016, Firefox 48.0 was released. It is scheduled to be replaced by Firefox 49.0 on September 13, 2016. At that point, Mac users using OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.7 Lion, and 10.8 Mountain Lion will be left behind by the current versions of Firefox. It will be a sad day, as Firefox is the last major browser to support Mac OS X 10.6 through 10.8.

But it’s not all bad news. Firefox has given us Mac support longer than Google’s Chrome browser, which left us behind in April 2016. And in comparison to Apple’s Safari browser, Chrome and Firefox have been downright generous. Safari 5.1.10 was the last version for OS X 10.6, and that arrived on September 12, 2013. Safari 6.1.6, the final revision for OS X 10.7, was unleashed on August 13, 2014, and 6.2.8, the last version for OS X 10.8, a year later on August 13, 2015.

However, many our visitors still request this very old version for education purposes. I have Mac 10.7.5 and I can't get a newer OS and I need to know which version of Firefox I need to download. Their old directory of files is extremely hard to navigate and I.

Chrome gave Snow Leopard users 2-1/2 years more support than Apple did, Lion users 20 months more, and Mountain Lion 8 months. When Firefox 49.0 arrives, Snow Leopard users will have had 3 years more support by Firefox than Safari gave them. Lion users, 25 months, and Mountain Lion holdouts, 13 months.

Outdated Does Not Mean Obsolete

Fear mongers will insist on running the latest version of browser on a fully up-to-date operating system with the belief that anything else puts you at risk. The truth is, there are unknown risks in the latest software. You can never be 100% secure.

However, you can be very productive with older operating systems, applications, and browsers. Just because some new piece of software requires a newer OS version is no reason to upgrade – unless it gives you a feature you really need to have. I have been happily working with OS X 10.6 on my 2007 Mac mini for years. I use Safari, Chrome, and Firefox daily on it, and only one of them is current – and not for much longer.

Then again, OS X Snow Leopard itself is far from current, yet it allows me to run lots of software and be very productive. I don’t find it limiting at all to use outdated software with an outdated operating system on a discontinued computer that will never run OS X 10.8 or newer. It’s good enough for what I need it to do.

Honestly, that’s the whole point of Low End Mac. You can be productive even if you can’t run the latest Mac OS and browser. After all, there was a time when they had nothing newer to use, and they were productive then.

The Real World

Security experts will count out hundreds or thousands of security issues with whatever you’re doing on your computer, and none of it matters until someone targets that issue in a way that reaches your machine. That’s the real world. Theoretical security problems are not real until they become exploits, and even then the problem might never reach your system if you’re not downloading apps from unreliable sources.

Hello,
I update mozilla firefox but it is not supported by my old mac 10.7.5
Consequently I have no way to come to the previous configuration and I have lost my work environment with Zotero.
I download 'Zotero standalone' and I have my library again. But it is useless because I can use it with word ; and firefox refuses to add plug in as they are not 'recognized' as safe.
I'm in trouble ! Who can save me ( and protect my mental health !) ?

I assume you mean 'can't', but that's not the case. Zotero Standalone includes the Word plugin.
    What's not working?
  • You are right !
I have now the 3.6.28 firefox but I can't install Zotero with this version. I have a message saying that Firefox can't identify the plug in and refuse to download.

  • OK, let's back up:
    1) Again, if you just want to use Zotero Standalone, you don't need to install anything into Firefox to use the Word plugin. Zotero Standalone includes the Word plugin. If something's not working with that, you'd have to say what it is.
    2) Firefox 3.6.8 is ancient — many years old — and isn't safe to use. If you want to use Firefox and can't upgrade your OS, you should install Firefox 45 ESR, which is the last version supported by Mozilla for 10.7. But again, this isn't necessary to use Zotero Standalone and Word. (If you're using Firefox as your browser, though, you should definitely upgrade.)
    3) You appear to be trying to install a third-party extension ('Google Scholar Citations for Zotero') into Firefox. I'm not sure if you intended to do that or if you just searched for 'Zotero' in the Firefox Add-ons pane and found that, but that's not Zotero. Zotero is only available from zotero.org. We don't distribute it through the Mozilla add-ons site.
(Feel free to respond in French if you prefer.)
  • Where can I find a decent version of firefox for my old 10.7.5 mac OS to make my Zotero efficient. or where is my mistake ?
With this firefox, I can't go to the previous page ; i can't use zotero. I feel like living in an ancient time !!!
  • Please reread my previous message — I gave you all the information you need.
  • I have firefox on one side, Zoterostandalone on another side and word on a third side.
They don't 'talk' to each other.
I have no way to find my Zotero onto my firefox : I can't work, means select article in a website to add to my library ; add my citation on my word paper. I have no zotero button on my firefox page. On word, no action is link to zotero menu.
That's why i feel I will end the month on a psychiatric institution, as I have dead lines for an article and a chapter of a book ;-p
  • To concluded :
I downloaded ERS firefox for Mac 10.7 which upgrade the firefox 3.6.28 : I'm glad to be back in the 21th century !
I did it mentionning I KEEP BOTH VERSION OF FIREFOX ( what i had to do to prevent my present pbm).
Then I proceed as if I was a new zotero custumer : download Zotero and so on.
At the end, I had my previous environment, the full library I made through 5 years. But word menu is wired : I have to work differently but still, I'm able to work !
Thank you Dan for your comment and YOUR GREAT HELP ! I realise how much I'm addict to your magnificient ZOTERO !
